The 25 S/S Maison Nica collection symbolically expresses the rapidly changing modern society through the medium of the "metro," prompting reflection on what truly matters in our busy lives. This theme is closely intertwined with the story of Psyche and Eros from ancient mythology. The tale of Psyche and Eros reflects complex human emotions such as desire, jealousy, conflict, betrayal, attachment, and forgiveness, showcasing the journey from immature love to mature love through the trials they endure.
In the story of Maison Nica, Youth and Joy are the twin children born to Eros and Psyche. As they shift in the modern world, Youth and Joy navigate a rapidly changing society, feeling fear towards love and marriage. Just like the people living hectic lives in the subway, they too begin to see love and marriage as luxuries. Although Eros shoots his arrows of love at them, the modern youth, with their hearts as tough as steel, often evade these arrows. As a result, Youth and Joy develop a skeptical attitude towards love and marriage, but Psyche reminds them of the true essence of love. She tells them that without the arduous trials she faced, she would not have found either love with Eros or joyful experiences with children, Youth and Joy. She hopes that they will find true happiness through love.
